Reading without an account
Reading is free and does not require an account. Servers process the technical information needed to deliver and protect pages, including IP addresses. The application contains no advertising or advertising analytics tools.
Your account and reading
If you create an account, OpenClassics stores your email address, profile name and, when supplied by your sign-in provider, profile image. We also store technical sign-in identifiers, sessions and their expiry, and the associated IP address and browser information. To resume reading, we save the text, its language, the paragraph reached, the original or modernized mode and a fingerprint of the text.
Signing in with Google
Google sign-in requests only your profile identity and email address. OpenClassics uses these details to identify you and find your account. We do not request access to your Google emails, contacts, files or calendar. Data received from Google is not sold or used for advertising or to train artificial intelligence models.
Service providers and cookies
Railway hosts the production application and database, configured in its European Amsterdam region. Infomaniak delivers email sign-in codes. Cloudflare Turnstile checks code requests to limit abuse and processes the technical information needed for that check. Google participates when you choose Google sign-in. Necessary cookies remember your session and language; account sessions expire after 30 days without renewal. Email codes expire after five minutes.
Retention and deletion
Account data and reading positions are retained while your account exists. You can delete your account from the Account page after signing in recently: its sign-in records and reading positions are then removed from the active database. Copies may remain in backups during their rotation cycle. You can also contact us to request access to, correction of or deletion of your data.
